"Le Voyage en Chine" was premiered on December 9, 1865 at l'Opéra-Comique in Paris. Manifestations include 4 vocal scores published by Henry Lemoine (Paris, 1865?) and a German version (which includes the French), "Die Reise nach Chine," published by Ed. Bote and G. Bock (Berlin and Posen, n.d.). Several of the scores bear English translations handwritten above the French. All accompanying text material is handwritten in English and titled "A Voyage to China." Of special note is copy 2 of the promptbooks which credits Chas. A. Morton for the English adaptation, and which is further identified as the "Colville Version, " London, July 1879. Dialogue parts exist for all characters in the English adaptation, and there are chorus texts as well. The collection also includes chorus parts, and orchestra parts published by Lemoine.
